I’m sure you have questions about the how, when, where, and the what if’s of a photo shoot. I’ve aswered the most commonly asked questions below, but if you don’t find your answers here, contact me and we’ll get you squared away.
Where do we shoot?
I love to work in a park or on the beach…just about anywhere. Perhaps you have a favorite place or an open backyard. I have a few favorite spots so we can discuss the possibilities when you book. Ideas? The rustic, the beautiful, the funky, the unique – it all helps build a memorable set of images.
What do we wear?
Generally any solid color will look very nice. I love blue jeans, medium tone colored shirts, sundresses, hats, jean jackets, anything with texture. Avoiding stripes keeps things from looking too busy, and leaving the logo t-shirts at home is always a good idea – they will quickly date your photograph.
For group shots of multiple children and families, coordinating outfits gives the most pleasing effect. Khaki pants or jeans with matching or complimentary shirts is a timeless look.
However, after the “recommended dress code” pictures have been taken, please feel free to bring cowboy boots, fairy costumes, tutus, tiaras…well, you get the idea! I love props and always bring several but feel free to bring what your child will love as well.
How soon should I schedule a session?
As soon as you can! There are only so many dates open, particularly from September to Thanksgiving as I book for the busy holiday card season.
What if I have to reschedule at the last moment or the weather is bad?
Call me immediately if your hour/day/week is going crazy. I’ll accommodate you as quickly as the schedule allows for your reschedule. As far as weather goes, I keep a close eye on it and stay in touch with you if it looks iffy. I always try to discuss a rain date with you in advance when you book as well.
How soon do we see our photos?
I try to have all images burned to a DVD in 3-4 weeks time. If you’re in a time crunch for a particular photo (card, gift, etc.), just let me know and I’ll work on it ahead of the others and deliver it as early as I can.
What if our session is going poorly & my child is having a bad day?
I’m there to take great pictures. If you child is clearly not him or herself, feels poorly, or is just in a horrible mood, I’ll reschedule as best as I can. An out of sort child is usually evident within the first 10-15 minutes. Your time and my time are valuable and there’s no reason to coax a sick or clearly unwilling child.
